JONATHAN M. DEAN BIOGRAPHY:

This native of Okemos, Michigan, has written the English captions projected above the stage for forty-two Seattle Opera productions since 1997. His captions also have been used by Lyric Opera of Chicago, Hawaii Opera Theater, and Long Beach Opera, among others.

As Seattle Opera’s education associate, Dean introduces thousands of students to opera each year. His new adaptation of Wagner’s Rheingold was performed at eight Washington State elementary schools this February. Dean also writes Seattle Opera’s Spotlight guides and lectures widely on opera and the humanities.
